Just last week the President of The United States, Barack Obama, appeared on the Jay Leno Show. It’s a late night chat show with celebrities, politicians and occasionally animals, who upstage everybody!
Beamed across America and shown in Europe, he was utilising the television medium to put his points of view across in a relaxed informal setting. Yes we warm to Mr Obama, he shows passion, his desire is to fix America. He jokes, he smiles, he is building an affinity with the people, they trust and believe he can deliver.
Reaching out to the people, before he even became President he had joined http://twitter.com/, the social network site. Currently he enjoys the highest rating in the world, with well over half a million followers. Build trust and they will follow.
In the internet marketing world there are some marketers out there building real trust with their prospects and subscribers. Frank Kern said “The money is not in the list, it’s in the relationship with the list”. Give your subscribers real value, bonuses, quality information, videos, the list goes on. Well at least until you’re sick of the whole business and retire to Hawaii.
I have to mention John Thornhill, he has built trust by being honest and upfront with his customers. Not only does he go that extra mile in guiding people and answering problems, he will give an honest assessment of someone else’s product he is promoting. He just doesn’t say how great it is, and you should not pass up on buying it. He will say it’s not for everyone and give reasons why. Or he’ll say although it’s a good product it will not make you rich. How refreshing is that, by building real relationships he has amassed a subscriber list of fifty thousand!
I will be cracking open a bottle of Moet Chandon when I reach one hundred!
